Giving a small idea a shape
Perchance
I like the moment when a slightly odd idea takes shape. A cat reading beside a window, for example. Perchance interests me because this image generator offers a way to start without an account or payment. You don't need a brilliant idea. A small description is enough.

What does it do with our words?
Write what you want to see, choose a style and ask the generator to make an image. The interface has styles such as photography, watercolor and illustration. Pixel Art is there too: pictures made of visible little squares, like old computer games.
This is an AI image generator. Your description guides it but doesn't guarantee every detail will come out as intended. I'm talking about the generator linked below, not every tool other people build on Perchance.
Let's give the cat somewhere to sit
Start with the description field. Instead of "a beautiful cat", try a little scene: "an orange cat beside a window, soft morning light". We already have a subject, a place and lighting. Not bad for one sentence.
Choose one style, such as watercolor, and press Generate. "Realistic photo and pixel art and watercolor" is less a direction and more a team meeting.
A first prompt to try:
a small orange cat reading beside a window, soft morning light, watercolor illustration
After you get a result, change just one detail. Evening light instead of morning light, for instance. It's easier to see what changed and decide what you prefer. No guaranteed result here; it's a small experiment, and it's allowed to surprise us.

It's nice to start for free
The generator describes itself as free, with no sign-up and no limit. That's an inviting advantage: one less account in the collection. "Unlimited" is the site's promise; I wouldn't build a whole project's schedule around it.
Perchance's terms allow commercial use of generated images without required attribution. That doesn't guarantee every result is free of other people's rights. Check before publishing a recognisable person, brand or character. No need to panic before inventing a cat, but stop before printing a famous character on something for sale.
Check the result too. Odd lettering and extra limbs need fixing, not decoding by the reader. A six-legged cat might be ready for Mars, but not necessarily for a homepage. Keep personal and sensitive information out of prompts.
Noa's verdict
Perchance joined my tools collection as a starting point for a small creative experiment, not a promise of a perfect image.
If you have an idea and want to give it a direction, I'm in favour. I like the chance to make the request more precise. Sometimes we say "beautiful" and only understand what we mean when we describe the light, setting and style.
I'd start with one image, improve one detail, and let myself stop. Not every idea needs twenty attempts and a folder called "really final 7".
For work needing precision or legal certainty, my enthusiasm stops until those are checked. But a small game with an idea? That's why I saved it. I'm no painter, but I can ask for a cat by a window. If it has six legs, at least we have something to talk about.
